Adding products: one at a time or import a spreadsheet

There are two ways to build your catalogue.

Add one product

Go to Products → Add product, fill in the name, price and details, add images, and save. Best for a handful of items or one-offs.

Import a spreadsheet (CSV) or PDF

Migrating from another platform, or working from a supplier price list? Go to Products → Import. You can bring your catalogue in two ways, and both land in the same review screen before anything is saved.

  • CSV — upload or paste it. Shopkit reads your column headers and shows a column mapping step: match each of your columns (e.g. "Product Name", "RRP", "Web Address") to the right Shopkit field, or mark it to ignore. Common names are auto-guessed for you. You only need three fields mapped: Name, SKU and Retail price.

  • PDF (supplier catalogue) — no spreadsheet handy? Hit ✨ Convert PDF and upload a supplier's price list or catalogue. Shopkit's AI reads the PDF and pulls out each product — name, SKU, retail price, wholesale price and a short description — into the same table you can map and review. It even converts trade or ex-GST prices to an inc-GST retail price where that's all the catalogue shows. A few things worth knowing:

    • It's powered by AI that's included with your plan — nothing to set up. (If you'd rather bill AI to your own Anthropic account, you can add a key under Settings → AI enrichment; that's entirely optional.)
    • PDFs up to 32 MB are supported. One clear catalogue at a time gives the best result.
    • The AI only reads what's actually on the page — it won't invent products — so give the extracted rows a quick review and tidy-up (blank SKUs especially) before applying.
    • Like all the AI features, it counts toward your plan's monthly AI allowance.

Pick the supplier first. The Import screen asks you to choose the supplier the file came from (or "No supplier" for your own products) before you can preview. If that supplier has its brand list filled in, a Brand picker appears too, so every imported product lands branded — a CSV Brand column always wins for its own row.

Always hit Preview before you apply — you'll see exactly what will be created or updated, and any rows with problems, before anything is saved.

Tidy up afterwards. The Products list has Active / Inactive / Deleted tabs (deleted products are restorable), and selecting products opens bulk tools including Edit products — a grid for fixing category, supplier, prices and stock across a whole import in one pass, with set-all helpers.

Tip: map a supplier product-page column (like "Web Address") to Supplier product URL — it lets Shopkit source images and richer descriptions automatically.
