Shopkit help

Payment options at checkout

Shopkit can take money three ways. You choose which ones appear at your checkout under Settings → Checkout & payments.

Card

Paid immediately through Stripe, into your own bank account. This is on by default and is the fastest path for you: the order arrives already paid and ready to pack.

Card only appears at checkout once Stripe is actually connected. If it isn't, Shopkit leaves the option out rather than sending your customer to a payment step that fails — and tells you so on the payments settings page. See Connect Stripe.

Bank transfer

The customer gets an email with your account name, BSB, account number, the amount, and a reference — their order number. They transfer the money from their own banking app.

  • The order is held for 7 days. If the money hasn't arrived by then the order is released and the stock goes back on the shelf.
  • Orders will not ship until you mark them paid. Open the order and press Transfer received once you can see the money in your account.
  • You'll need your account name, BSB and account number saved in settings before the option can be switched on.

Good for larger orders, trade customers, and anyone who would rather not put a big amount on a card.

Pay when you collect

Nothing is paid online. The customer places the order, you pack it, and they pay at the counter when they pick it up.

  • Only offered on click-and-collect orders — never on something being posted.
  • The sale is recorded when you press Collected, which marks it paid and draws the stock down.
  • There's no deadline. The goods are on your own shelf, so it's your call how long to hold them.

Where unpaid orders show up

An order paid by bank transfer or on collection sits at Pending payment until the money arrives — but it is a real order, not an abandoned checkout, and it appears in your normal Orders list alongside everything else. Pay-on-collection orders also appear in Pickups straight away so you can pack them before the customer arrives.

Turning card off

If you'd rather run a transfer-and-cash shop, you can switch card payment off entirely. Shopkit will stop you leaving yourself with no way to be paid — you need at least one option switched on.
