Gift cards let customers buy credit for your store and redeem it at checkout. You'll find them under Marketing → Gift cards.
Gift cards are a paid-plan feature. If the page shows a locked screen instead of your cards, your current plan doesn't include them yet — see Plans & billing.
Issue a card yourself
Go to Gift cards → Issue gift card and set:
- Amount (AUD) — any value above $0, up to $10,000.
- Recipient name and Recipient email — optional.
- Expires — optional; leave it blank and the card never expires.
- Internal note — optional, for your reference only.
Press Issue gift card. Shopkit generates a unique code (in the shape XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX) automatically.
Let customers buy their own
When gift cards are enabled, your storefront gains a Send a gift card page. Customers pick an amount and a design, add a personal message, and it's emailed to the recipient with a copy to them. This relies on Stripe being connected — see Taking payments. Cards bought this way never expire.
Check balances and manage cards
The list shows every card's initial amount, current balance and status — active, redeemed, expired or inactive. Open a card to see its full redemption history. From there you can:
- Deactivate a card to block further use (and reactivate it later).
- Delete it to remove it from your store. This is reversible, and past orders keep their record.
Balances drop automatically as cards are spent — there's no manual top-up or deduction.
Redeeming at checkout
On the cart page, customers enter their code in the gift card code box and press Apply. The balance comes off the total, capped at whatever's owing, and any leftover stays on the card for next time.
